Scholarships for Brewster High School Seniors

Committee: The Brewster Ladies’ Library Association (BLLA) Scholarship Committee.

Award: The amount, number, and length of scholarships offered may vary each year. For 2025, there will be two scholarship awards offered, each in the amount of $2500.00.

Eligibility: Graduating seniors who reside in Brewster, Massachusetts, at the time of application and attend a high school on Cape Cod. Applicants are to be in their senior year of high school and planning to attend a two- or four-year college/university or a vocational/technical school of higher learning beginning with the summer or fall semester of the student’s graduation year.

Application: The student is to submit a scholarship application packet, including: a copy of one’s resume delineating all high schools attended, extracurricular activities, community service, and work experience; his/her transcript; an essay as described on the application form; the Expected Family Contribution form from the student’s FAFSA; and a letter of recommendation from the school’s faculty. An additional recommendation from a faculty member, employer, or individual familiar with the student’s involvement in extracurricular or volunteer activities can also be submitted. Potential applicants should contact their school’s guidance department to obtain an application.

These documents should be submitted to the school’s guidance department by April 1, 2024 and received by the BLLA Scholarship Committee no later than April 1, 2025. The award winners be announced at the student’s high school Awards Night. Selection will be made upon the following considerations:

  • Brewster, MA, residence at the time of application

  • Financial need

  • Grade point average

  • Personal recommendation(s)

  • Participation in high school extracurricular organizations

  • Volunteer work done on Cape Cod

  • Employment records during the high school years

  • Future goals and objectives

A personal interview with the BLLA’s Scholarship Committee may be required.

Payment: Payment will be made directly to the student after successful completion of the first semester. A copy of the student’s transcript should be mailed to the Brewster Ladies’ Library Association, Attention: Scholarship Committee, 1822 Main Street, Brewster MA 02631. The transcript may also be emailed to <scholarshipbll@brewsterladieslibrary.org>. Once received, the BLLA will send a check to the student in the amount of the scholarship award.

Disclaimer: In the event that for any reason an award winner’s qualifications for winning the scholarship changes or the student fails to submit the qualifying transcript within 60 days of the conclusion of the semester, the Brewster Ladies Library Association has the right to withdraw the scholarship award.
