1852 December 25

Transcription:

A meeting of subscribers for a Circulating Library in Brewster was held at the Academy Dec. 25th 1852. The meeting was called to order—Pres. Mr. Newell in the Chair. S.A. Mayo was appointed Secretary to record proceedings of this meeting. A committee of five selected by the Chair were as follows-
          Mrs. Henrietta Doane
            “  Olive G. Freeman
            “  S. Augusta Mayo
            “  Mary L. Cobb
            “  Priscilla Crocker
The duty of this committee being to form a Constitution, and make such By-Laws as they shall deem necessary for the good of the Association, to present to the members at their next meeting for their acceptance. A committee of two consisting of—
          Mrs. Cordelia Freeman
           “  Rebecca Crosby
were chosen to secure a Librarian and a place for the Library to be kept. The meeting then adjourned to meet at the same place the following Wednesday.
